Eligibility to Access the Short Break Grant (SBG)

Providing the grant has not already been closed due to the funds being exhausted, application documents are received prior to the deadline for this grant period, which is 5 PM on 31 January 2025.

No more than 1 application will be processed in any grant period and the maximum amount of the full award will be no more than £400 or £75 for those already in receipt of other short breaks funded by the Local Authority.

Child or young person you are caring for full time must have any of the following applicable to them.
Supporting evidence is required for DLA, PIP and undergoing assessment
Uploaded in PDF, JPG or PNG format with file size less than 50MB.
Where applicable, first page of multiple page letter will suffice.

The disabled child or young person receives a higher-level Disability Living Allowance in either care or mobility components. Please upload an image of front page of DLA award (less than 50MB and file format - PDF, JPG or PNG)
The child or young person is in receipt of an Enhanced Personal Independence Payment (PIP). Please upload an image of front page of PIP award ( less than 50MB and file format - PDF, JPG or PNG )
The child or young person is subject to a Final EHC (Education Health Care) plan.
The child or young person who has been formally triaged and is currently on the Autism MAAT pathway that will likely or has already resulted in a diagnosis of Autism Please note ADHD diagnosis alone does not meet the criteria, we can only accept dual diagnosis with Autism. Additional Eligibility Information
The child or young person receives another form of Short Break that is being funded or provided by the Local Authority. Examples of this would be Domically Care/Home Care, respite provision from a foster carer or residential home or where families have chosen to access support to meet identified Social Care Need through a Direct Payment. This limits maximum grant spend to £75
FOR PREVIOUS APPLICANTS - All unspent monies or proof of spends have been returned from any previous application. Receipts must be submitted for this period by 12 March 2025	;
